A 2021 graduate of the Boston Conservatory at Berklee (Bachelor of Music, Cello Performance), the work of Sarah Nichols (she/they) includes teaching cello, violin and viola at the Symphony Music Shop in Dartmouth, MA, being Assistant Coordinator of Southeastern Massachusetts Youth Orchestra, and serving as Education Assistant with the New Bedford Symphony Orchestra.
Sarah started playing in musical theater productions when they were going into their sophomore year of high school and have absolutely loved playing in these shows over the years. Her shows have included The Sound of Music (New Bedford Festival Theatre), Pippin (Westport High School), Cinderella (Newport Children’s Theatre), West Side Story (New Bedford Festival Theatre), and the operas Dead Man Walking (Boston Conservatory at Berklee), Amhal and the Night Visitors (Little Theatre of Fall River) and Whaling Women (Seaglass Theatre Company).
Sarah recently had the honor of participating in a residency at the Boston Center for the Arts that combined improvisation with the Negro spirituals written by enslaved people. She can honestly say that this program, under the direction of Steph Davis, was one of the most rewarding performances they have ever participated in. Sarah’s main goal in the music world is to continue dismantling the racial supremacy and patriarchal ideas that continue in our musical society. She is grateful to be surrounded by individuals that feel the same.
Sarah has studied with Charlene Monte, Bonnie Harlow, Mihail Johatu and Andrew Mark.
